German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) Dog

Addison the Dog needs a home

Please contact Adoption ([email protected]) for more information about this pet.

Addison made the long trek down to San Diego, quiet as a mouse, cute as a button, sweet as sugar.  She’s quite the character, and it took only one day to let some of that character show.  Cute as a button?  Absolutely.  Sweet as sugar?  Depends on who you ask.  Quiet as a mouse?  Okay, she’s quite the character.   A little over three months old, Addie was diagnosed with a medical condition, Mega Esophagus.   As soon as she was diagnosed, her family wanted nothing more to do with her.  Lucky for her, the vet recognized a little girl with a strong will to survive and knew that she deserved a chance at life and kept her safe while the shelter begged for any rescue that was willing to take her.

Addie is having the time of her life playing with her foster sisters and brothers.   Despite her medical condition, she is her own little force to be reckoned with.  She can keep up with the big boys and girls.  She is looking for her forever family, one who will give her the leadership, training and guidance that she needs, one who has the time to devote to a special needs puppy and dog.  She is learning to use her foster brother’s Bailey chair.  She eats her meal with no problem, but does need a little coaxing to stay in her chair for 20 minutes after her meal to let everything go down.   It’s only been one day, though.  Give her a week, and she’ll be an expert.

There are many amazing German Shepherds with mega esophagus who live full amazing lives.  Addison’s foster sister is almost 10 years old and her foster brother is two and a half, both with mega esophagus.  Addison just needs a family who will be there for her through the good times and the not so good times.  There is never a guarantee that any medical issue will be easy.   Addison is waiting for her special family to come along, one who is just as strong willed as she is, a family that doesn’t give up as soon as there is a bump in the road, and one who enjoys life as much as she does.  Oh, and another one of those 70 pound big brothers to chase around.  Yes, Addie can hold her own with the big boys.   Ever seen the elephant afraid of the mouse?   Addie likes playing the mouse and watching her brothers run.
